Land Policies determine the mode of land tenure systems for communities and individual land users. There may not be much choice in the systems at hand, but which ever selected, land policy options should be long term in focus as landed properties are durable in nature and of slow returns. Well-known tenure systems are either of a fixed term or perpetual and could be statutory or customary. Within each of these are varieties or modifications that focus on circumstances and, when critically considered, each country ends up with a land tenure system that is unlike any other. In other words, each country has a land tenure system that is peculiar and unique to itself. Similarly, policies are seen as different from each other or multiplicities of basic systems and so is the mechanism established to administer land.
