Abstract:
The report gives an overview and result of the direct and indirect effect of HIV/AIDS on school going children 7-14 years old. It also reports on the status of school enrolment since the 1980’s. It reports that HIV/AIDS is leaving many African children parentless and threatens to reverse hard-won gains in raising school enrolment. Kagera Region of Northwestern Tanzania was selected because it is an area especially hard hit by the AIDS epidemic and has orphan rates at least one-third higher than the national average. It suffered considerably from the 1979war with Uganda, has suffered crop pests and disease reducing banana output.
