National multi-sectoral strategic framework on HIV/AIDS 2003-2007
/
2003
Abstract:
HIV/AIDS cases have risen from three in 1983 to more than two million in 2002. President Mkapa has declared it a national disaster. The impact of AIDS is already felt in many if not most sectors of society especially education, and health, but also in the private and business enterprises because of the morbidity and mortality among their work force. Due to increase in adult and child mortality rates, life expectancy at birth in 2010 is supposed to be 10 years lower than it would have been without HIV/AIDS.
